Stone Ridge

Prior to designing this home we met with our clients, Brendon and Steph, on-site for several hours in order to get a true sense of what made this property special and what they wanted to achieve.

The materials used are simple and inspired by the rural setting. The stone that was selected is based on the New Zealand Shiste where the client is from and picks up on the coloring of the large granite outcrops found in the neighboring national park. Spotted gum is then used extensively throughout in order to give some warmth and balance to the industrial feel. The white plaster and polished concrete act as a neutral base allowing the natural elements to become the hero. As you make your way through the house the living space opens up and reveals extensive views over the backyard and out over the national park. Every room and every passageway has been designed in order to have a visual link with nature to make you feel like you’re always a part of the outdoors.
